Yoyo! Bandits of EVMB!

We only have 25 days LEFT till SYF! ;D

From now until the end,
even just for a 10 mins performance,
I hope you guys can REALLY give your best shot for every practice... :D

I also hope that you guys can take SECTIONALS seriously instead
of fooling around.

NOTE: (this applies to brasses & woodwinds only) for sectionals, work on:

1)TONE as a Section [play long tones
together]
-improves intonation as a section; then, as a whole band
-play out chords from either pieces OR play concert Bb Major
[up & down the scale]

2)ARTICULATION [practice as much tonguing as you can together]
-achieves clarity [clear tonguing NOT muffled sound]
-you can also practice tonguing anytime, anywhere. It benefits you.

3)Lastly, DON'T just play the song/piece/music/notes,

.::.SING it OUT LOUD everyday. Then, apply it to your playing.

For e.g. A choir needs to sing out their chords but we play out those chords.

If the choir happens to sing out of tune as a whole, it turns people off.

THE SAME THING applies to playing music, in order to make the piece

sound beautiful, you need to 'SING' out those notes/rhythms/dynamics and NOT

'SCREAM' it out. Get what I mean?

If I put it this way, our instruments are like our vocal chords. If we treat it badly

by 'SCREAMING', our throats will become sore thus, making us sound awful as

our voices change due to the sore throat.

Without vocal chords, how can we speak? Without instruments, how can we play music?

Give it thought. :)

Till here,
Your Deputy Band Major, HaZwani xD
